Main task

Post production

I am using MoviePlus X6 to make my trailer. This is the first part of the filming that I am going to add into the trailer. This is the third shot but I haven't had the chance to film the beginning establishing shot as it has been snowing and my the whole of my trailer is not set in the snow. Hopefully next week it will have stopped snowing and I will be able to film the opening shot.

I have added text into the shot because I want everyone to know what the main characters are called etc. I used pink because the main character is very girly and when I have filmed the other main character I will add the name of him to the shot as well.

I chose to have the shot of Amelia in black and white because she is upset and I thought this having the effect black and white would show that she is upset. I would like to have the whole of the trailer in black and white but then I think that it might make the whole of the trailer look all dull. So I think that I am going to have only the sad/down parts in black and white... to add effect.

I have added in a soundtrack to this shot. The reason I have done this is because it shows that she is sad and depressed about the whole situation. The reason that this shot doesn't have a voice over is because this shot actually isn't the opening shot so therefore I have not added a voice over to this shot.

I have started to make the poster as I haven't been able to film due to my actor been unable to be filmed at the times that which I have arranged to film, I am going to finish the filming at the weekend in order to complete the trailer.





This is the image that I am going to use on my poster, I decided that I just wanted to have a picture like this because it shows her smiling although she's crying inside. I think this is quite a good picture to use because it doesn't give the film away too much, it makes the viewers not really know what the story is actually about until they watch it they will understand what it is actually about.

This is how edited the picture, I used serif DrawPlus X5 in order to give the picture a light pink background. I used the paint tool and I changed the settings of the brush so it didn't have spaces in and so that it was a smooth colour. I went around the whole of the background in order to make sure that everything was covered up with the pink to make sure that only my main character was showing.





This is what the finished picture looks like when the whole of the background is pink and completed.

This is the edited version of the picture. I used Serif DrawPlus X5 to edit this picture. The reason that I used pink is to make the film appeal to its target audience which is teenage films. I think that the pink will grab people who are of the target audience to want to watch the film.

I used Microsoft Publisher to start to design my poster for my film 'The Last Option', so far I have added in the title of the film, the time at which the film will be coming out, coming soon sign and the name of the main actors real name.

This is what my poster looks like so far, it is not completely finished as there is still things that I need to add onto it to make it look a lot more attractive and appealing.

I decided to restart my whole trailer again because I was unable to get filming done as I never had the chance to with the actor that I was using.

Production

This is where I decided who I am going to work with, in the end I decided that I would work by myself because then if I fall behind or my partner falls behind then there would be no problem because I am working by myself.

This is where I decided what genre I am considering using in my trailer, in the end I decided that I was going to have teenage romantic film as the genre. 

This is where I decided what my production company is going to be called, in the end I decided to have my production company as AH Productions, this is short and simple like what I wanted.

This is where I decided what I was going to call my film, I came up with a few ideas and then I decided that I was going to call my trailer 'The Last Option' because I felt that this name would suit a lot about what the film is actually about which may attract people into watching the film.

New Technologies

I was asked to produce a short video on a topic of my choice and I decided to do a video on Shirley High School as it was only a practice and I just wanted to get use to using the software and video camera. I was asked to do this video so I could practice editing so that I would be able to edit when it comes to doing my film trailer.

The equipment and software I used for the making of the video was a video flip camera and Serif MoviePlus X6. Before I started the video I already knew how to use the video flip camera because previously I had made a short video earlier on in the year. I had never used Serif MoviePlus X6 but I found that it was quite straight forward to use and I now feel that I will know what to do when it comes to making my film trailer.

I started the task by deciding what I was going to film and then I went around the school and filmed various parts of the school. Then I uploaded all of the video clips on to my computer and decided what ones I was going to use in my video. Then I opened Serif MoviePlus x6 and added the videos in order onto the storyboard, I stabilized some of the videos as I realised that I wasn’t holding the camera very straight when I was filming. I trimmed one of the videos as I didn’t want some of the background that was shown on the video. I added in two texts clips, one at the begging and one at the end. Before every slide I added a slide transition to make the video look more interesting. Then at the end when everything was all put together, I went on to a copyright free music website and found a background track for the video. Then I exported the movie by file and then I added my final video onto my blogger.

I found trying to keep the video camera still was quite difficult, I didn’t think that it would show so much but if you knock the camera a little bit it has a big impact on the outcome of the film. I resolved this by stabilizing some of the video clips, but I think that next time I record anything I will use the tripod so that the film isn’t moving about.

I have learned a lot by making this video; it has helped me to know that you have to keep the camera dead still when recording or the whole film could turn out to look very un professional. Also I have learnt how to use Serif MoviePlus X6, I now know what tools to use to edit films etc and how to put everything together to actually make the video. Now knowing this I think it will help me a lot with the addressing the brief as I am now aware of most things that could happen when filming.
